In Preperation of the 2021 California Recall, I thought it would be good to to take a look the last time a California held a Gubernatorial Recall, the successfull 2003 Recall of Governor Gray Davis.
Overall, the Recall Ballot results showcase the last successfull R Coalition, with the GOP Broadly pulling a strong performance in SoCal, taking a large chunk of their votes from Orange County, in addition to a strong showing in the Cascades, San Joaquin Valley, & Kern County.
Comparatively, the Democrats were strongest in the Bay area and the North Coast, however it wasn't enough to save Governor Davis.
With that we also find the reason that Governor Newsom should be sleeping easy, and that is, many of the places where the Recall got it's support from, such as San Bernardino, & Orange counties and the northern part of the San Joaquin have since gone Democratic.
However, even if they revert, the'll unlikely do so by enough to oust the governor.
Turning our head to congressional Districts, 32 Districts voted too Recall Governor Gray Davis, where 21 Voted too Keep. And 37 districts voted for Hollywood Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and 16 for Lt. Gov Cruz Bustamante.
All in All, despite the campaign by Democrats, only 16 districts voted No on Recall and Yes on Bustamante. Republicans would hold the governorship untill 2010 when former governor Jerry Brown succeeded Schwarzenegger
