The 1896 Presidential election in New York County, a contest between Ohio Governor William McKinley and Populist Democratic Representative William Jennings Bryan resulted for a win for McKinley in the Tammany Hall Dominated Traditionally democratic County
This was the last election in which New York County was legally coterminous with New York City, as the 1894 Consolidation vote would take effect on January 1, 1898
