We celebrated Safer Internet day by watching a Live Lesson on BBCiPlayer on how to design an AI chatbot responsibly and from this created our own posters on CANVA.

Next we created a story about our mission to create a reliable, accuare, relevant and unbiased Chatbot...
Our Year 5 pupils have created a podcast exploring how formative assessment is used across Cwmlai Primary School, highlighting the strategies that help us reflect, improve, and celebrate progress in our learning.
The theme for this years Mental Health Week was "This is my place" and belonging. We had a class discussion of what we thought belonging is and where we feel safe and comfortable. Next we made a presentation on people, places, sports clubs etc that make us feel like we belong.

Our fantastic school competition for our Eisteddfod.
Beth from Big Foot Arts Production visited our school to complete a drama workshop on Branwen from the Mabinogion...
What a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day! Congratulations to Edie, Luna-Rae and Imogen for being our winners.
Michael Rosen!
Listening to stories from aorund the World
Lots of questions to think about
Becoming illustrators too!
We created stories from our live lesson with Michael Rosen and read them to Year 2 - Dosbarth Porffor.
The Prophecy of the Purple Dragon by Dosbarth Gwyn
Not only did we create indiviudal stories to read to Dosbarth Porffor for World Book Day, we also visited their class to interview them so we could create a book based on their class.
INSERT BOOK
We studied the front cover and read the blurb and from these we had to use inference to ask questions about the book.
We wanted the opportunity to be artists and create our own front cover for the book (even though most of us did agree that the original cover is great!)
In a circle we read aloud from page 8 to page 16. From reading up to page 16 of the book and watching "The Princess and the Dragon" we came to realise that the book is giving us lots of clues to the relationship between Aniyah's Mum and Dad.
We studied sections from the book such as -
"whenever Dad came home from work and needed to move furniture around the house" (pg 8)
"Let's drown out the world shall we?" (page 8)
"Sometimes Dad would bang on the door and call for her" (page 8)
"...how big is Mrs Iwuchukwu's switch and what do we need to do to make sure it never gets flipped over to the wrong side? The switch question is the most important, because I know everyone has a switch inside them and if it gets flipped, it can make them get angry and hurt you. Especially grown ups who work hard like Dad" (page 12)
We ALL soon came to realise that the relationship between the mum and dad was not a "healthy" one and we had a lot of discussion in groups and in pairs about what is a "healthy" and what is an "unhealthy" relationship.
Next we assessed our learning and four pupils received a Headteacher Award - archeddog!
From our class book, we decided we wanted to email the Royal Observatory in Greenwich to have a star named after someone who means the world to us. We used the persuasive technique of AFOREST.

All of the emails were are a really good standard, but three really stood out which were Penelope, Cohan and Edie who all recived a certificate for being such Ambitious Aeron's in our Celebration Assembly. DA IAWN!
Our natural world is diverse and dynamic, influenced by processes and human actions.
To start our new topic of "May the force be with you? we first of all discussed what we thought a force was in our talking partners and then snowballed our ideas throughout the class.
Next we created our own questions as to what we wanted to find out (including any activities too).
We studied what is a push or a pull and sorted photos in a push or a pull.
*PUSH OR PULL WORK IN TOPIC BOOK*
What a fun afternoon we had discovering all about Electrostatic Force! First we blew up a balloon (which was a challenge for many of us just to tie it!) followed by rubbing it on our heads and seeing what it did to our hair...
Next we rubbed the balloons on our heads and placed the balloon next to ripped pieces of paper on our desks...and they stuck to the balloon!
This was followed by rubbing the balloon on the table and moving a can..
So many questions arose about magnetism and we wanted the opportunity to first explore magnetism ourselves by researching as a group and then presenting our findings to the rest of the class.
To start our learning of air resistance, we first had a go at making a simple paper aeroplane - it came as quite a surprise to some of us that we found it a lot more difficult than we thought with many of us never having made a paper aeroplane before.
Once we had made our paper aeroplanes we went outside and had a competition to see whose aeroplane would fly the farthest. We were introduced to scientific vocabulary of -
Streamline
It was a bit windy too so we also learned a little about the effect of the wind too! We measured with a trundle wheel and the winner was Ryleigh with a distance of 10m 98, second was Connor with 7m 58 and third was Rosie with 7m 42.
In groups, we were given a pack of instructions and resources of paper and paper clips. From the pack given, we had to PREDICT what design we thought would fly the furthest, which brought us to discussing the word "STREAMLINE" from last week.
We had to wait quite a while for the weather to improve as we really wanted to fly our plane outside. We had a big discussion about how the wind could effect the flight and that for a FAIR TEST we should really fly the planes with no wind.
As a class we had to guess what the object was without touching it and we did not have a clue! We were then told we could touch them and experiment and a lot of us guessed it was to measure something!
We had a good discussion about Newton Meters and couldn't wait to start experimenting!
CHALLENGE! CHALLENGE! CHALLENGE!
Our focus this term is on Circuits and increasing our fitness so we decided to do CIRCUITS. Every week we recorded our results on a whiteboard and transferred these results onto a spreadsheet when back in class to monitor our progress.

We looked at 3 artists and had the choice of which masterpiece we would like to create.
Which ones are the originals and which ones did we create?
⭐Vincent Van Gogh - Starry Night Over the Rhone (1889)⭐
⭐Edvard Munch - Starry Night (1893)⭐
⭐Georgia o'Keefe - Starlight Night (1917)⭐
We used Canva to create a mood board on Gayle Rogers who is a Welsh artist from Ynshir in South Wales. We have sent her some examples of our recreations of her work and hope she will reply!
