Health & Wellbeing - How Hard Is It To Be Healthy?
Science - What Can We Reuse?
Our topic for the first half of term is all about looking after ourselves. We will be focusing on our health and well being.
The children though of as many ways they can think that healthy and unhealthy behaviours can impact on a persons health. When we think about our health, it's important to know how our actions can help or hurt us. Eating vegetables and playing outside are healthy behaviours that keep us strong and happy. On the other hand, eating too much junk food or not exercising can make us feel tired and unwell.
The children decided to set themselves a challenge to create their own class workout. We've been following these daily, and the class have really enjoyed them! The burpees were very hard, but everyone did their best, showing great enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the sessions. Â They have also been enjoying having a go at the 5 minute Joe Wicks workouts.
The children thoroughly enjoyed keeping healthy by practising for sports day. They had a blast running, taking part in the beanbag race, and mastering the egg and spoon race to show off their balancing skills. The relay really highlighted their teamwork! Everyone was fully prepared for our sports day, and they all had a fantastic time.

We finished our healthy eating topic with a fruity snack!
Additionally, we’ve been swimming this term, and the children have truly showcased their swimming skills. It’s been great to see them develop their techniques during lessons, making this term both fun and rewarding!
Our topic this term is all about recycling. The children discussed in partners what they already knew about the this topic and wrote these on Seesaw. At the end of the topic we will go back and add what we now know to see how much more we have learnt.
They then discussed what they want to find out during this topic. They came up with interesting questions we can explore together during our topic.
To start our topic, Miss Julie asked the children to help clean our nature area, as there was a lot of rubbish around. The children used litter pickers to pick up the rubbish and make it clean again. We then created posters to tell people why it is important not to litter.
Dosbarth Coch discussed why we should stop littering and decided to create a poster to promote ways we can keep our community tidy. We wrote 'What Makes This Good?' for our posters and checked we had everything on our list when we finished our posters.
We sorted materials that we can recycle, like paper, plastic, and glass. This helps us understand how to keep our planet clean and safe for everyone.
After discussing how different counties recycle differently, we researched the recycling rates in the countries of the UK during our maths lesson. We recorded this information in a table and then created a graph to show our findings. Finally, we answered questions about the graph to check our understanding. The next part of our lesson was to research the counties in Wales and their recycling efforts.
We have been working hard to learn this song during our Expressive Arts lessons with Mrs Priday.
We listened to the quote from David Attenborough and decided we needed to create speeches to send to world leaders to save our planet. Here are some of them...
Kath from Bryn Pica delivered an interactive lesson which provided us with even more knowledge about this topic.
