Trip Information
We are excited to announce our trip for this term! We will be joining Mrs John's class on this trip. Please see the information below.
Our natural world is diverse and dynamic, influenced by processes and human actions.
This autumn, we have an exciting and engaging topic which we are eager to develop. We began by introducing the topic title and discussed it's meaning. From here, the children brainstormed ideas and came up with some questions as part of the pupil voice.
Our next lesson involved the children learning about the different types of landscapes. We then focused on four landscapes to develop our learning from the children's questions. There was a powerpoint presentation followed by a practical sorting activity and finally, the children demonstrated their understanding by sharing the four landscapes chosen in their books.
Next, the children were placed in random groups and were given a landscape type to research. They then created some fantastic posters detailing their findings.
In preparation for our 'rivers' lessons we began looking at Wales and it's counties. We learnt about the different shapes and locations of the counties before working in partners to label the map.
We have been learning about the difference between natural and man made materials. The children worked in random groups to decide which materials belonged in which category.
Our artist to explore this term is Andy Goldsworthy. We began by learning all about his art style by watching videos and looking at powerpoints whilst taking notes. From here, the children shared their knowledge and attempted to recreate some of the patterns used by Andy Goldsworthy.
For our next creative lesson, we looked at the patterns used by Andy Goldsworthy and gathered different coloured leaves. Next, we painted paper plates in autumn colours and glued the leaves onto the plates in a pattern. When these dry we will be painting the leaves different colours and creating a similar pattern to the one pictured.
