What is it? Where did it come from? What happened? We watched the video and discussed where the children thought it had come from and what they predicted may have happened. This brought us to the question 'What is Space?'

Planets
We began by exploring the planets. Using what we already knew we used the Chromebooks to research the different planets and found out information about them that we could share with our friends. Using that information we designed our own planets. We also looked at the order of the planets from the sun.
Light and Dark
We talked about light and dark and investigated sources of light. This involved taking a walk in and around our school identifying sources of light. We talked about how rainbows and shadows are formed. We also created a dark den in the classroom to explore this further by creating shadow puppets with our hands.
Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night
Using Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night painting as inspiration, over a number of weeks we experimented with different techniques using paint to create our own version of the painting. We used different tools such as cotton bud, forks, sticks and sponges to create the swirl effect in the painting. We also looked at silhouettes and how to add that to our painting.
Materials
We went on a walk around our school to identify different materials. We discussed the uses and properties of the materials we found.
We used recyclable materials to build a rocket. We talked about which materials we thought would be best to use and why. ADD PHOTOS
Rocket Mice
After investigating rockets we were given a challenge to follow instructions to create our own Rocket Mice! Look how high they flew!

At the end of the topic we used the green screen to create a video about what we had learnt during our topic. We all chose one thing that we wanted to share.
