We were really lucky to have a workshop with Huw from Upbeat Music and Arts to kick start our topic and inspire our learners!
We had a session exploring Welsh music and Clog dancing, sharing elements of our culture and heritage to share with our pupils and reinforce their sense of 'cynefin'.
Telyn (Harp)
Pibgorn (Pipe horn)
Dawnsio (Dancing)
Cerddoriaeth (Music)
A pibgorn, clog shoes and telyn!
One of the earliest musical instruments played in Wales, the pibgorn was probably used as a solo instrument or to accompany dances. t is made up of a wooden pipe and the horns of a bull. One horn is used as a mouthpiece and another to form a bell end which helps amplify the sound.
Show Racism The Red Card
We explored differences between children in our class, in our school and across Wales. After watching the clip from Show Racism the Red Card, where Balraj suffered racist abuse from older boys when he attended a football camp, aged seven., we explored ways we could support Balraj and prevent this happening to other children. We entered a competition with Show Racism the Red Card and pupils chose between the 6 areas of learning to submit an entry. We have included some examples below. Most pupils chose the creative or expressive arts competition.
Katarina and Seren used Adobe Video to produce their messages about Racism. Click on the link to listen.
Listen to Scarlett' and Evie's song about racism and help us stop it now!
The children enjoyed creating their work to raise awareness of such an important issue. They also linked it to their UNICEF rights of a child .
This term, we have been attending weekly swimming lessons. We have been developing our swimming skills and took part in the national swimming test.
We also had the opportunity to learn lifesaving skills in our pyjamas! The instructors spoke to us about the flags on the beach and how to stay safe when we're around water.
