We wrote descriptive sentences about the animals.
Animal Encounters
To start our topic we had a visit from animal encounters where we found out about different animals. We even got to touch each animal.
What do we know? Are zoo's good or bad? Why do we think zoo's are good or bad? What do we want to find out?
Caring for animals
We had a class discussion about the pets we have at home. Each of us took turns sharing stories about our animals, from playful dogs and curious cats to smaller pets like hamsters and fish. We explored the different ways we care for our pets, from feeding them properly to ensuring they have enough exercise, love and attention. The conversation also touched on the importance of respecting animals, understanding their needs, and treating them with kindness. It was a great opportunity for the children to learn from one another and reflect on the responsibilities that come with having a pet.
Pet visits
Throughout this topic, we've been fortunate to have several pets visit our class, which made the learning experience even more exciting. During each visit, we had the chance to observe the animals up close and discuss their unique characteristics, as well as how to care for them and show them respect. Among the special visitors were adorable baby chicks, a soft rabbit, a friendly dog, and even a fascinating chameleon.
Animal patterns - designing and crafting sock puppets.
We had the opportunity to closely examine various animal skins and their unique patterns. After looking closely at the details of these textures, we tried our hand at recreating some of the patterns ourselves. Later, we used these designs as inspiration for designing and crafting our own animal sock puppets, incorporating the patterns into our creations. We then created a video discussing the interesting animal facts that we had found out during our topic.
School Trip to Fonmon Castle
On June 24th, we embarked on an exciting trip to Fonmon Castle, where we enjoyed a day full with a variety of engaging activities. One of the highlights was building a bug hotel, where we used natural materials to create a habitat for insects. We also went on a mini-beast hunt, carefully exploring the grounds to find and identify different creatures in their natural environment. The excitement continued as we wandered through the dinosaur trail, looking at the life-sized models and learning fascinating facts about these prehistoric giants. To top off our trip, we even got to play in the park.
