King  Charles III Coronation.

Saturday 6th May 2023 was the coronation for King Charles III. We researched the coronation and King Charles, and after watching the coronation on the television we decided to design and write cards to the King, congratulating him and asking him questions. We then posted the cards to Buckingham Palace and are hoping that we get a response!

We also answered the question - if you were a King or Queen for a day what would you do? We used the green screen to record our answers.

The Wind in the Willows with Image Theatre

The Image Theatre Company performed The Wind in the Willows. We love when they come to perform with us as the show is so interactive. Before the show we all learn the songs, then some children are chosen to take part in the show. After a quick break we watch the show. This year 3 children were chosen from Year 2 to join in!

Seren a Sbarc Day

Seren a Sbarc help us to celebrate and promote the Welsh language.

Fire Service

We had a visit from the Fire Service who talked to us about fire safety and what to do in the event of a fire.

Football Workshop

Ex pupil Lucas Vaughan plays for Bristol Rovers football team. He visited school and led some football coaching sessions with the children. They really enjoyed working with him!

Class Enterprise

Every class in school, throughout the year, has held a class enterprise day where the parents were invited into school to purchase the children's creations and participate in a parent / child session. For our enterprise the children decided to sell their artwork from their Eisteddfod, and bookmarks they had made. They decided how much they wanted to sell their products for and were in charge of the shop. Their parents were invited to come in and share a story with their child before purchasing their products. It was a very successful day and we raised almost £100 which will be used to purchase outdoor equipment.

The Daily Mile.

We've been doing the daily mile to help us focus in class.  It really does work!

Year 2 Choir with Mrs John

The Year 2 choir have been practising with Mrs John on a Monday lunchtime, and asked to put on a performance for their families. The children asked if they could charge the parents to come and use the money to buy toys for the children in the Royal Glamorgan Hospital. After an emotional phone call with a member of staff at the hospital, who were overwhelmed with the children's generosity, Mrs John took some children to deliver the toys to the hospital. Whilst there the children sang for the staff. Their performance for their parents was a huge success and the children cannot wait to join the choir again next year!

Mountain View Ranch

For our end of year trip we went to Mountain View Ranch in Caerphilly. Despite the weather we had an awesome time exploring the Fairy Forest, Roly Poly Hill, The Lost Boys Hideout and the Gruffalo Trail.
