British Board of Film Classification (BBFC)
To kick off the topic the children took part in a live video lesson with Wallis Seaton, a compliance officer for the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).
During the lesson, the children learnt all about age ratings, why they exist, and consider issues such as:
What age ratings are and how they work
The suitability of content
How they make their own decisions
Why regulations and rules are in place
Where they should go for more information when deciding what to watch, and how to steer clear of content that might be unsuitable
Film Review / Book Review
In science the children investigated how light travels. They looked at key terminology and identified everyday objects in and around the classroom that could be categorised as translucent, transparent and opaque.
Camera Angles
The children began by exploring the different camera angles used when shooting a television programme or movie. They then planned and filmed their own short movie using the ipads incorporating a variety of camera angles.
