These books above were the stimulus to start our topic (see also AoLE page)
We looked at the difference between using our "inner voice" to ask questions and our "outer voice" and had a fantastic discussion on the questions we would ask Auggie if he came to our school. We all showed such empathy towards Auggie! 😍
This work has a Deputy Head Teacher Award and an Ambitious Aeron sticker - WOW!

We studied Charlotte, Julian and Jack Will and decided from what we had read so far that Charlotte was bossy, Julian was rude and Jack was impatient. After this we looked for evidence in the text...it was rather challenging! However we showed great resilience and we got there in the end 😀
Next we wrote our plan and then wrote our diary based on the Chapter "The Grand Tour". We self and peer assessed.
The BBC launched it's annual writing competition and we wanted to be a part of it. Have a look at their website below..
The cover of Wonder is wonderful and we took inspiration from it to design our own posters with a variety of adjectives to describe us. Have a look at our creations which are also displayed in our classroom - what Creative Cariads we are!
As a class we love learning Welsh and we created our own posters using Google Slides for hobbies in Welsh.
We found a piece of art that we liked online that depicted bullying. We used SIZZLE style activities to write descriptive sentences about this piece of art. We used these sentences to write a bullying / anti bullying poem.
Onomatopoeic:
The words buzzed around his head like bees
He wished he could swat them away as easily.
The names his bullies called roared on repeat in his mind.
Bang! As the thunder struck, the tears ran down her face.
Personification:
The rain wept down the window pane.
Simile:
The tears ran down his cheeks like rain.
Like rain, the tears ran down his cheeks.
The cloud above him, full of thoughts, as dark as a black hole.
Alliteration:
Silence surrounded him like a mist, strangling the words from his mouth.
Imagery – The boy moved quietly around the school
Thoughts swirled in his head.
His hands were clammy and his heart pounded.
He felt alone.
He was thinking inside his head,
Is it my fault? Or am I over reacting?
NEED TO ADD IN HERE - THE CLASS POEM AND INDIVIDUAL POEMS

The children were asked to create a spreadsheet to record lung capacity by blowing into a Flow Meter three times and finding the average.
The children had lots of questions about lung capacity. Who will have the biggest lung capacity? Will the boys have the biggest lung capacity? Will the tallest person have the biggest lung capacity? Will the loudest person have the biggest lung capacity? The children produced graphs to show the results.
Working together as a group to solve a problem.
We were so pleased with the way we worked together and showed great resilience in getting the problem solved. We loved writing straight onto the tables!
