Curriculum Conference

Four pupils were chosen to speak all about our Curriculum to other Headteachers and Senior Leaders at Tonyrefail Comprehensive School. All four pupils spoke confidently about our curriculum and all of the topics covered - da iawn!

Dylan Williams won the Welsh Table Tennis Primary School Championships!

Dylan was very proud to lift the trophy and to bring it to school to show in our Golden Book Assembly

Some of our pupils went to represent Cwmlai and competed in the Wales Championships in Table Tennis.  Oliver and Dylan were the overall champions and did not lose a single match!

Crufts

India was very proud to bring in her medals and certificates from Crufts.

Urdd Individual Poetry Recital

Congratulations to Lois Jones who won first place for the individual poetry recital held in Llanharry.  Lois is through to the next round to be held in Porthcawl!

Science: Light and Sound

For our Science this term, we looked at Light and Sound. This was a suggestion from the children, because it was so dark underground. They wanted to know why - and how do we see?

SOUND INVESTIGATIONS:

We carried out some Sound Investigations with Mr.

Morgan from Inacoustic. We wrote up these Science investigations and our findings. 

Using the data we gathered, for who had the loudest scream, we created a graph to show this information and we answered questions about the data gathered. 

BSL: An Introduction to Sign Language Lesson: 

Some of our fantastic Eisteddfod winners for Poetry writing, Art and Handwriting. Da iawn! 

World Book Day Celebrations: 

The Year 5 pupils went to read with the Year 1 pupils. 

Each class designed a Story-Door using a Welsh Myth or Legend. Year 5's myth came from the book of the Mabinogion and was called Rhiannon, Pwll and the hideous claw. 

Easter - We made Easter baskets, cards and tried hot cross buns. We also re-told the story of Jesus and Easter. 

Year 5 had a very mature discussion session with PC Leigh and his colleague PC Jane about using Social Media responsibly.
