The children used a Venn Diagram to sort toys from the 1980's and 2020's. A lot of discussion and research took place to find the correct decade but they noticed that Gen X and Generation Alpha share some of the same toys.
During this term, we explored different types of communication in the form of letters and emails.
We learnt about the features of both letters and emails and what vocabulary was appropriate in formal or informal texts.
Dosbarth Arian wrote letters of complaints to Mr Hughes and Mrs Scott about their proposed change to playtimes!
Dosbarth Du wrote letters of complaints to Smyths about faulty toys!
We loved informally emailing our friends and also sending formal emails to Mrs Barnett about how to spend our fundraising money on sports equipment for the school!
The children enjoyed measuring and reading scales on a variety of containers. Children used language associated with capacity. They were able to express the amount of liquid in the containers in different ways.
We loved exploring capacity by pouring water into different types of containers and reading the scales.
Some of us even used tiny pippets, syringes and spoons to fill larger containers!
We were surprised when some containers held the same amount of water as others!
