Rhondda Netball visited the school to tell us about the netball clubs that are available around the local community. Lots of our pupils already play around the county and some even feature on the advertisments!
This term, we are attending weekly swimming sessions in Tonyrefail Leisure Centre in order to improve our swimming skills. We love attending these sessions!
On the 27th of September, we attended the Race Against Hate cross country event; organised by South Wales Police. We participated in the 1200m Cross Country event!
We were incredibly proud of our effort and perseverance during the race; with every single pupil completing the race! Da iawn pawb!
Remembering to not overload extention leads;
Placing hot objects on hard surfaces after use;
Not having our phones on charge on the bed overnight;
To always call for help in a fire emergency!
On Friday 11th October, we participated in World Mental Health day. We wore something yellow to school and participated in lots of different mindful activities.
To discuss mental health and how we can help ourselves. We also discussed kindness and how we can be kind not only to others but to ourselves too.
Rob from Forces Fitness came to visit us on World Mental Health Day. We discussed TLC which stands for -

We have been fortunate enough to receive the opportunity to work with Cardiff Blues Rugby for 6 weeks during the Autumn term.
During the sessions, we have been focusing on health and well-being in sport, whilst thinking about physical health and fitness, mental well-being and healthy eating.
We were set a competition to design a healthy plate for a Cardiff rugby player and were reminded that they train for 3 to 4 hours a day, 3 to 4 times a week so would need lots of protein! We were asked for a volunteer to stand up and show our work.

We took the chance to design some emoji's for Children in Need!
Although they did not qualify for the National Eisteddfod, they did a great job and enjoyed tasting the other competitors cakes!

In November, Tobi-Rae and Lily competed in the regional finals of this years PobUrdd competition in Garth Olwg! They had to bake 4 decorated cupcakes for this round.
On 6th December, some pupils represented the school in the Year 5 and 6 Cardiff City football tournament.
After some tough games, the team came 5th!

Following our Health and Wellbeing workshops, we were invited to visit Cardiff Arms Park!
We were incredibly greatful to Cardiff Rugby and their Community team for allowing us to visit!
We started the day with an "Open Your Eyes" workshop where we looked at a variety of jobs within Cardiff Rugby. It included:
Rugby players
First Aiders
Admin Teams
Dietitians
Physiotherapists
Marketing
We completed tasks like creating a game day poster, writing a breakfast menu for players and then finished by budgeting and getting some signatures from some players!
After our workshop, we were taken on a backstage tour of the Cardiff Arms Park! We had access to areas that the public cannot see like the changing rooms, gyms and hospitality boxes!

Then.. we finished the visit by playing some games on the pitch!
We played the "Floor is Lava" with rugby equipment, "Tag Rugby2 and "Chicken or Hero!"
We had the best time and learnt so much about Cardiff Rugby.We cannot wait to work with them again in the future!
We were very excited to return to Aberdare Coliseum to watch Aladdin this year!
We loved watching Aladdin - especially when we learnt the HOTTOGO dance as an audience!
This year, we performed The Wizard of Christmas as our Christmas concert! We explored Kansas, the Emerald City and had lots of fun learning new songs!

We loved stepping into the roles of Dorothy, Tinman, Scarecrow, Lion, Minions, Flying Monkeys, Narrators and Munchkins and learning lots of Expressive Arts skills.
We developed skills such as:

BSL
Using facial expression and tone of voice to portray emotions
Public speaking
