Music with Mr Evans
This term we have enjoyed music sessions with Mr Evans, exploring rhythm, patterns, identifying music notes and creating our own music.
Wear Red for Velindre
To support Velindre we took part in the Wear Red for Velindre day, and as a school we raised £500.
NSPCC Number Day
On Friday 7th February we celebrated the NSPCC Number Day by dressing as a digit and taking part in lots of maths activities. We began our day with a Number Day catwalk to show off our outfits.
Comic Relief
This year, to mark Comic Relief, we celebrated Red Nose Day by wearing something that makes me happy. From colourful costumes and cosy pyjamas to superhero capes and favourite footballers, the day was filled with smiles. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate self-expression and positivity while supporting a great cause.
World Book Day 2025
For World Book Day we dressed as our favourite character from a book. During the day we had a visit from author Meg Mattravers, and took part in lots of literacy activities, including paired reading with Year 6 and a reading treasure hunt. There were prizes for the most original costumes!
School Eisteddfod
To celebrate St David's Day we held a school Eisteddfod. We had a poetry recital, art and handwriting competition. We also performed a Welsh dance for the other classes in Foundation Phase.
Book Bonanza
We took part in a whole school Book Bonanza that was organised by Cwmlai's Community Champions. Books were donated by pupils and then we all got to choose a book to take home. We raised £250 that will be used to buy new books for our school!
Easter Bonnet Parade
To celebrate the end of term we held an Easter Bonnet Parade, where the children were invited to create a bonnet. The children in the Foundation Phase then took part in a parade to show off their bonnets to the children in the Juniors!
