The Dot
We read and acted out the story of 'The Dot'. When we returned to our class, we discovered it was covered in dots! We collected all of the dots and used them to create our own pictures.
We were very excited to meet Mary the Fairy from Clever Cubs! She took us on a magical journey with enchanting music and told us a story about emotions. As we embarked on this adventure, each of us played a special role in assisting Mary with her tale, transforming the experience into an interactive and engaging one. She took us on a magical journey filled with music and dance and each of us played a part in helping her retell the tale. Through drama, we discovered how to manage our feelings, we used sensory props, dance, twinkling lights, and instruments. Mary inspired us to express our emotions and reminded us that all feelings are ok.
Dot to Dot
We used our whiteboards to create dot-to-dot pictures, counting up to 20 and changing the color of our pens as we went along.
Computer log on
We are learning how to log into our computers by using usernames and passwords, as well as how to use the Shift key to type the @ sign and capital letters.
We went on a 2D shape hunt, searching for different shapes in our surroundings. Afterwards, we created a tally chart to record our findings and discover which shapes were the class favorites and discussed the most and least popular.
We worked together to sort out phase 3 sounds. We practised writing them on the correct boards.
We explored the concept of temperature by discussing items and environments that are hot and cold. This led to a thoughtful discussion about how we adapt to different temperatures through the clothes we wear. Together, we sorted various clothing items into two categories: those that keep us warm in cold weather and those that help us stay cool in hot weather. The activity encouraged the children to think practically about seasonal clothing choices while reinforcing their understanding of how temperature affects our daily lives.
During our practical maths session, we used beads to help the children develop their understanding of "one more" and "one less." The hands-on activity allowed them to manipulate the beads, adding or removing one at a time, which made the concept more concrete and engaging. Working individually and in pairs, the children practised counting forwards and backwards. This interactive approach not only supported their mathematical thinking but also built their confidence in problem-solving.
We worked together to sort out autumn treasures. We sorted by size, colour and using our own criteria.
We looked at daytime and night time routines and worked together to sort them into day/night and both.
Using practised our our number bonds using the part part whole method.
After practising our Welsh weather pattern 'sut mae'r tywydd heddiw?' we decided to create our own weather reports.
Logging on to HWB
We used the paint programme on HWB to draw a picture of what we want to be when we grow up. We chose a background and saved our work.
We created a Christmas poem using adjectives to put inside our Christmas cards.
Es i i'r disco
We read Esgidiau Coch Senta and then designed our our party outfit. We wrote a sentence in Welsh describing our outfits. We used word banks to help us.
Santa needed our help. All his pictures has lost their colour. We had to solve the addition sums and use a key to use the correct colour.
