The children received a phone call in class. They were told that someone very important was waiting for us upstairs? Who could it be?
We built a castle, we met a knight!
We learned all about symmetry. We made summetrical castles
It has to be the same on both sides!
If I was a Queen, I would go shopping for dresses!
If I was a King, I would eat ice-cream all day!
If I was a Queen, I would eat pasta and play in the castle!
If I was a King, I would fight with a sword and horse!
We had to estimate how many of our feet it would take to climb the ladder and get to the knight's castle. We had to count our footsteps from heel to toe.
We had to hold our hands out for balance
We had to count out loud
We had to chalk down the number of feet long the ladder was
Our estimates were very different to how many feet it actually took!
Which objects would float? Which would sink? Can we use a tally chart to help us?
All of the boats floated on the top of the water!
The badger, car and money all sank to the bottom!
We have been learning all about the concept of items that are bigger and smaller, longer and shorter than each other.
We tried to find the biggest and longest items that we could!
We looked for the smallest and shortest things that we could find
By the end of the session, this group was able to demonstrate items that were bigger and smaller, longer and shorter than each other. We had lots of fun learning this concept!
