The children in Year 3 are very lucky to have Antionette coming in to teach them how to play the violin and cello. They’ve really embraced the opportunity, and it's been fantastic to see their enthusiasm!
On January 31st, we wore red to support Velindre, showing our care and kindness for those in need.
We have really enjoyed learning about food from different countries so today we decided to use food in our art lesson. The children were given a selection of foods and sketched them in their art books. They then needed to use the shading techniques they have been learning to create a black and white half and also a coloured half. They had lots of fun and we are looking forward to creating more food related art.
This term, the children are learning their hockey skills. They have enjoyed learning how to hold a hockey stick and then playing a game against the other Year 3 class.
They have developed teamwork and coordination while having so much fun. Through practice, the children are improving their passing and shooting techniques, making each game more thrilling!
We had so much fun today....we dressed up in number related clothes, played number games, enjoyed completing our Big Maths Online and raised awareness of maths.
For Mental Health Week, the children discussed what makes them happy and their achievements. They then drew a picture of themselves. One half portrayed how they look on the outside, while the other half showed the things inside their minds that make them smile. They really enjoyed this activity!
During Mental Health Week we spoke about our past experiences and our hopes for the future.
We enjoyed tasting pancakes with different toppings and learning about Pancake Day.
Our World Book Day was a wonderful success! We all dressed up in our favourite character costumes, which made the day even more exciting. We shared our favourite books with each other and talked about what we loved about them. After that, we had paired reading with the children in Reception. It was fantastic to read them stories and then discuss the plots, characters, and illustrations.
For our Eisteddfod, the children created a wonderful display of Welsh culture. They wrote the Welsh national anthem in their neatest handwriting. Each student composed a poem about Wales.. They also drew our school in the style of Rhiannon Roberts, adding bright colours and lots of detail. We had a fantastic Eisteddfod, celebrating our Welsh heritage, and the children thoroughly enjoyed these activities.
We discussed the words "Passover," "cross," and "tomb." Together, we explored their meanings and talked about how they connect to the story. Next, we sequenced the events of the story in groups. Finally, we created a glossary with definitions for these important words.
