This is our class novel for this term. We are excited to explore all of the different elements of the story.
After using inference and deduction, we used the Cwmlai question creator to deepen our understanding and questioning techniques by using a range of openers.
Our favourite questions included:
Where is the boys family?
Do the characters know eachother?
Who might get betrayed in the book?
We used SeeSaw to create a poster about what freedom means to us!
We continued exploring lots of questions from the book including:
What are your dreams and fears?
What does it mean to be free?
We learnt a French greetings song, numbers by playing games and then the colours by playing bingo! After learning lots of vocabulary, we created a double page spread to showcase our learning!
Take a listen to the greetings song that we learnt!
We used a page from our class novel "The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and the Horse" and used descriptive language to describe the picture. We also used Alan Peat "Simile" and "Ad Same Ad" sentences. We then used "TAG" to peer assess.
We read a few pages of The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and the Horse with the theme being love and success and answered some questions on the text to give our opinions.
We measured -
*Arm span
*Circumference of head
*Length of upper leg
*Length of foot
*Height
*Elbow to wrist
*Length of hand
*Knee to ankle
*Distance between shoulders
So much fun was had measuring different body parts and we learned how some body parts such as arm span needed more than just one person. We discovered that our arm span is the same as our height!
We have been developing our group reasoning skills by completing challenges as a team.
In order to be successful, we need to:
Listen to all team members;
Discuss and check all answers;
Communicate our findings effectively!
We have also began investigating problems in mistakes by finding out if the calculations are true or false! We need to use our reasoning skills to provide a logical reason for our problems.
We used EMOJIMAKER.com to design our own emojis. We then copied and pasted our work into a Word Document. Have a look at some of our fabulous creations!
We have been working collaboratively in mixed groups across the cohort to create a website about the human body and organs! In order to be successful we needed to:
Discuss and agree ideas as a group,
Collaborate and support each other,
Persevere through any challenges that we may face - both whilst researching and completing the website,
Encourage each other to always complete the best work that we can!
Here are some of our websites...
We wrote acrostic poems for Remembrance this year. In order to collect our ideas and put ourselves in the soliders shoes, we watched 'In Flanders Fields' which had a slideshow of images from the war.
After collecting our ideas, we wrote our poems on Google Docs using sizzling vocabulary.
Following editing our poems, we used Adobe to create a video reciting our poetry!
As a class we looked at each of the characters from our class novel of "The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse" and studied the different emotions and feelings each character goes through and then created a grid of each emotion for each character.
We watched a clip from The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse and then decided what character we would be to write a diary. We highlighted our Alan Peat sentences, used sizzling language, a variety of punctuation, fronted adverbials and time connectives.
We challenged ourselves to use a range of punctuation and sizzling vocabulary to up-level our work!
We also used a range of Alan Peat sentences, fronted adverbials and time conjunctions!
We loved these daily challenges set by White Rose Maths and loved explaining our answers.
We were set a budget of £1000 and the following WMTG (What Makes This Good)
To spend £1000 exactly
To use the sum formula to add up the total cost
To buy at least 5 items
To edit the hyperlink (to rename it to fit the description of the item)
