Character Descriptions – We researched different characters, including where they lived, what their jobs were, and other key details. Using this information, we created our own character descriptions, we had a challenge to include lots of adjectives.
We’ve been doing a lot of self-assessment and have been practising peer assessment as well. So far, we’ve done this orally, but recently we decided to record ourselves to review the videos and reflect on what went well. Now, we’re focusing on identifying ways to improve and adding something extra to make it even better next time.
We were set a challenge to learn our address! For safety reasons, our videos only include the name of our town. We practised asking and answering the question Ble wyt ti’n byw?
Exploring Water and Capacity
After learning about the different ways we can keep our bodies fit and healthy, the children explored how important water is in our daily lives. We discovered that we use water for many reasons, to drink, to wash, to cook, and to help our bodies stay hydrated and clean.
As part of our learning, we took on a special challenge to explore and compare the capacity of different containers. The children worked together to investigate how much each container could hold, using water to test their ideas.
We focused on using the correct vocabulary such as full, empty, half full, more than, less than, and holds the most/least. Through hands-on exploration, the children developed a better understanding of measuring and comparing capacity.
While learning about how to keep our bodies fit and healthy, we also explored what helps our bodies grow. We started by measuring smaller healthy items, like fruit and our water bottles, using centimetres. Then, we measured how tall we are and used metre sticks because we needed bigger rulers!
After learning about how our bodies grow, we received a special challenge from Tiny! We had to measure how tall we are using blocks. We then worked together to put ourselves in order from tallest to shortest. It was fun using blocks to measure our height and then compare with our friends!
Counting in 2s – Using Our Shoes!
To help us understand counting in 2s, we used our shoes as a fun and practical resource. Each pair of shoes helped us practise skip counting and introduced us to the idea of repeated addition. We explored how counting in 2s is linked to the 2 times table, and we even began writing number sentences to show what we had learnt.
