Enrichment activities
Every Friday, we are fortunate to participate in basketball sessions with Missy, who has taught us lots of new skills.
We received a magical letter from Mary the Fairy requesting our help! To assist her, we had a class discussion about how we could create a rainbow. We made predictions and conducted a fun skittle experiment to see if we could create a rainbow for Mary the Fairy.
Forest School
During our forest school sessions, our first activity is always to identify potential hazards in our surroundings. After that, we explored the colours in the environment by creating autumn windows. We collaborated in teams, listened to each other, and provided support to one another throughout the activities.
Fine Motor skills
We developed our fine motor skills by crafting story sticks, with each colour symbolising a different emotion.
After reading The Dot story we discussed the word floated. We thought about what happens when an object floats. We made predictions and investigated whether different objects in our classroom, float or sink.
This term in PE, our focus has been gymnastics. The children have been developing their balancing skills both individually and in groups. They have also explored creating various shapes with their bodies, enhancing their coordination and spatial awareness. Additionally, they’ve been practicing forward rolls, building confidence in movement and control. Throughout these sessions, the children have shown great enthusiasm, persistence, and teamwork.
Forest Schools
We used berries, mud and other things we found in the nature area to create paints and used them to paint picture.
To conclude our topic we conducted an experiment to discover how to make a rainbow. We used a light, water and paper to see the rainbow.
We used a running stitch to sew our Christmas stocking. I hope Santa leaves us a treat!
We used lots of lines and patterns to create our Christmas cards.
We practised our scissors skills by making snowflakes and Christmas decorations.
We looked at rhythms and beats with Mrs Priday. We used body percussion, cups and even worked with a partners.
