Storytelling Session with Mary the Fairy
Mary came to visit and told us a story that explored different emotions. We used scarfs, head dresses, music and the parachute to explore happiness, sadness, worry, fear and excitement.
We received a letter from Mary asking for help. She had lost the rainbow! Could we help find it? She left us some very strange objects to look for it!
We went on a hunt around the school to find our reflections.
What makes a shadow?
Why is our shadow in front of us?
Rainbow Skittles Experiment
We placed skittles around the edge of a plate and then predicted what might happen, once warm water was added to the plate.
When the warm water mixed with the sugar coating of the skittles, it took the coloured coating off the skittles and it ran into the middle of the plate, creating a rainbow effect.
Some of us predicted corrrectly!
We created our own rainbows in class, We filled a transparent cup with water and left it on our windowsill. The sun was shining outside and the sun's rays shone through the water droplets making a rainbow on ourclassroom floor. Magic!
Sunlight is white light, which is a mixture of all visible colours. As sunlight passes through the water droplets, it is bent and split into seven colours: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
