Fit for Fun!
The Rainbow Fish
We read the story of The Rainbow Fish and talked about how the Rainbow Fish was feeling at different parts of the story, and what he could do to get more friends.
We thought of lots of wonderful adjectives that could be used to describe the Rainbow Fish. We used our senses to describe the Rainbow Fish.
We wanted to interview the Rainbow Fish to see how he was feeling. We came up with some questions we wanted to ask the Rainbow Fish, and some suggestions of what he could do to get more friends.
We used these questions and suggestions to write a script. We then practised and made videos of us interviewing the Rainbow Fish.
AI Character
We used AI to create our own character. Firstly, we had to create a list of the body parts that we wanted our animal to have. We realized that we needed to be precise and include descriptive words such as long, short etc. We used a thesaurus to find quality adjectives to describe our character.
Writing a description
We were so excited to have designed and created our own character and loved the high quality adjectives that we found. We decided to use the adjectives to write a paragraph to describe our characters.
Story Writing
After describing our characters we decided to plan and write our own stories. We ensured that included a sequence to our story and were set a challenge to use descriptive sentences. After writing our stories we reflected on them and edited them to improve them.
Fractions
This term we have been exploring fractions, with lots of practical work and investigations. We began by looking at equal parts. We made toast and cut it in half to ensure that we had two equal parts. Once we were confident in recognising equal parts we moved onto quarters, thirds and even fifths!
We had a challenge to create fruit kebabs, but they had to be in thirds. First we had work out how many pieces of fruit we could use and how many pieces would be in each third. We then made the kebabs and enjoyed eating them!

Fitness Challenge!
We had a fitness challenge to complete with a partner. This involved counting jumps, timing how long we could do something, and measuring how far we could jump. We then compared our results and talked about the effect that exercise has on our body.
Could Dinosaurs Live Today?
Missing
We received a letter off Harry! A dinosaur was missing and he needed our help to find him. We decided to make missing posters to see if anyone had seen him. In our posters we included a picture of the dinsoaur and a description of it. We remembered to use our adjectives and describe with our senses.
In Dosbarth Pinc, we received clues about what had hatched in our nature area. The clues led us to a dinosaur, but what did it look like? We created a missing poster for a dinosaur that we thought it could be, making sure we included lots of descriptions about it. Have you seen any dinosaurs?
Coding
This half term we are working on our coding skills. We used J2Code to make various objects move for example, we had to park a car in parking spaces. We practised using the words forward, backwards, left and right.
Dinosaur Coding
After we felt confident giving basic coding instructions, we were challenged to use J2Code to code the dinosaur to make it move in a square shape.
Oes ci gyda ti?
This term we have been practising the question 'Oes ___ gyda ti?' and using the sentence patterns 'Oes, mae ______ gyda fi' and 'Nag oes, does ddim ____ gyda fi'. We have learnt the vocabulary for many pets including dog, cat, rabbit and tortoise. We participated in welsh games such as Graffiti Wall to practise the sentence patterns.
Wyt ti'n hoffi ___?
We were set a challenge to create a page for a new book for 'Harry and his Bucketful of Dinosaurs'. We practised the sentence pattern 'Wyt ti'n hoffi ___?' and answering with a positive and negative answer.
What is your favourite dinosaur?
We created tally charts of our favourite dinosaurs and used the data to create block diagrams. Some groups used j2e on HWB, others created it on paper. We then analysed the data to make sure we understood what it was showing us.
Postcards to Harry and his Bucketful of Dinosaurs.
Our genre this half term was postcards. We received a postcard from Harry and his bucketful of dinosaurs which led to discussions about postcards. Not many children had actually sent or received a postcard before so they were very excited. We looked at the features of a postcard.
We wrote our own postcards to Harry telling him about a holiday that we had been on. Some groups wrote their postcard, other typed their postcards onto google slides.
