Fundraising
In order to fund our STEM project, we decided to set up a Just Giving Page, which we could then share with any local companies and sponsors.
We recorded a short video to inform any potential sponsors about the project and how the money raised would be spent.
DCF
During our literacy lessons, we composed emails to send to local companies and businesses to inform them about our project in the hope of gaining further sponsorship.
Dosbarth Efydd also set up a Just Giving page and were blown away by the sponsors we received.
After our discussion on 'What makes a champion,' someone asked if we could e- mail George North. He ticked many boxes for them, being a sporting champion and running a business, Baffle Haus, which has a big focus on cars.
We were amazed when he wrote back and sponsored us £100.
The children made a script and then presented the information about the money that was needed for this venture.
We worked on budget information and summaries. These allowed us to plan how to spend our sponsorship money.
The whole school celebrated VE day with a picnic on the field.
Coding - Drawing Polygons
During our maths lessons, we have been learning about angles.
We used our knowledge of angles to code our very own program to draw and teach the younger children in the school about regular polygons. Click on the green flag to try it out.
Numeracy
During our topic lessons, we were challenged to plan a road trip around Wales in an electric vehicle.
We had to think carefully about the places we visited and the route we took.
We had to use Google Maps to find the distances between the places we visited and used our numeracy skills to calculate how long each leg of the journey would take.
Literacy
In Literacy we wrote end of year reviews. Initially we mind- mapped the amazing things we have done and are still planning to to in our final year of Cwmlai and then we presented our end of year reviews.
