There is a true feminist movement in

Buddhism that related to the goddess

Tara. Following her cultivation of

bodhicitta, the bodhisattva’s

motivation, she looked upon those

striving towards full awakening and

she felt that there were too few people

who attained Buddhahood as women.

So she vowed, ‘I have developed

bodhicitta as a woman. For all of my

lifetimes along the path I vow to be

born as a woman, and in my final

lifetime when I attain Buddhahood,

then, too, I will be a woman.’

佛教中有一個真正的女性主義運動,

和女神度母有關.

當她成就了菩提心,

這位菩薩發心度眾,

看到努力追尋覺悟的世人,

深感成佛的女性太少.

因此她發願,

‘我以女身發展菩提心,

正道上我願生生世世以女身修行,

最終, 當我得以成佛之時, 我將仍是女身.’
