In Buddha’s time there was a king who

committed the heinous crime of

murdering his father. But he was

totally overwhelmed by his crime, and

depressed. When Buddha visited him

he made a statement that parents are

to be killed, but he didn’t mean it

literally. Buddha was using parents as

a kind of metaphor for desire and

attachment that lead to rebirth.

Because Karma and desire combine to

create rebirth, in some sense they are

like parents. Thus, he meant that

Karma and desire

are to be eliminated.

在佛陀的時代, 有一個國王

犯下了謀殺父親的惡行.

而他為此完全不知所措, 沮喪不已.

當佛陀探訪他時, 他表示"父母得被殺死!!"

但佛陀指的並不是字面上的意思.

他將父母作為欲望與貪愛的隱喻--

這些導致輪迴的因素.

因為業和欲望相連就引起了再次投生,

從某些觀念看來, 它們就像父母一樣.

而佛陀的意思就是要根除業和欲望.
