Sloppy Joe Sliders

Sloppy Joe Sliders

Miz Helen's Kitchen

Ingredients

Serves 12

1 pound lean ground chuck

1 medium yellow onion, chopped

1 medium green bell pepper, chopped

1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce

1 cup ketchup

2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce

2 teaspoons yellow mustard

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon pepper

3 tablespoons brown sugar

1-1/2 teaspoons cumin

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)

12 slider buns

Dill Pickle Chips for garnish

Directions

In a large skillet brown the beef, then add the onions, and bell pepper. Cook the mix until the onions are clear and the peppers are just tender. If you have excess liquid, drain and return the ingredients to the hot skillet.

In a mixing pitcher, mix the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire Sauce, yellow mustard, salt, pepper, brown sugar, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne.

Blend this liquid mixture very well.

Pour the liquid mixture over the beef mixture and mix well. Cook this mixture on medium low heat for 10 minutes then leave on simmer until you are ready to serve.

The meat mixture can be made ahead of time and reheated and it can be frozen for up to 3 months for use at anytime.

This is an option: The slider buns can be heated in the oven for about 8 to 10 minutes at 350 degrees, or you can serve them in a large basket and let everyone help themselves to the meat mixture.

I like to garnish with a dill pickle chip.

Enjoy!
