Italian Sausage Skillet Pizza

Ingredients

1 pound Italian Sausage

3 tablespoons cornmeal

1 (13.8 ounce) can of Pizza Dough

1/2 cup pizza sauce

1 small onion, chopped

1 small red sweet pepper, chopped

1 cup black olives, sliced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon black pepper

Generous pinch pepper flakes

2 cups Italian Mixed Cheese, shredded

Directions

In a hot heavy skillet brown the sausage until it is brown crumbles.

Sprinkle the bottom a 12 inch iron skillet with the cornmeal.

Roll out the pizza dough into a circle and fit the dough into the skillet.

Sprinkle 1 cup of the cheese along the roll edge, then roll part of the dough down forming a deep dish, with the cheese inside the roll.

Place the skillet into a 400 degree oven for 8 minutes to pre-cook the crust.

Remove the skillet to a cooling rack.

Spread the crust with 1/2 cup pizza sauce.

Sprinkle the sausage over the pizza sauce, then sprinkle the onions, sweet peppers, and olives on top of the sausage.

Mix the oregano, basil, pepper and pepper flakes together, then sprinkle it over the pizza.

Top with the remaining mixed Italian shredded cheese.

Return pizza to the oven and cook at 425 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.

Remove skillet to a cooling rack.

Remove the pizza from the skillet to slice and serve.
