Busy Day Goulash

Busy Day Goulash

Slow Cooker

Miz Helen's Kitchen

2 pounds lean ground beef or Ground Turkey

2 medium onions chopped

1 green bell Pepper chopped

1 1/2 cups Tomato Sauce or 114 oz. can

1 1/2 cups Diced Tomatoes with juice or 1 14 oz. can

1 3/4 cup corn or 1 14 oz. can

4 cups beef broth or 2 14 oz. cans

3 teaspoons chili powdered

1 tablespoon oregano

1 tablespoon parsley

2 teaspoons cinnamon

2 cups dry Elbow Macaroni (of your choice)

1 cups sharp Cheddar cheese grated

1 cup Monterrey Jack cheese grated

Salt and Pepper to taste

Option: Dash of cayenne pepper

Brown beef, onion and pepper in a hot skillet, I do not use oil. Add 1/2 cup of water to the skillet to remove all the goodies from the bottom.

Pour the beef, onion, and pepper mix into the slow cooker. Add the tomato sauce, diced tomato, corn, beef broth, chili powder, oregano, parsley, cinnamon, and macaroni. Mix well and cover the slow cooker.

Cook on high for 1 hour, then on low for 3 hours. At the end of 3 hours put the cheese on the top of the Goulash, replace the lid and cook for 30 more minutes on low.

Option Tip

If you like a firmer macaroni, add the macaroni after 1 hour when you turn the Slow Cooker to low, then the macaroni will be firmer.
