The super from the building near mine was there and was joking rather loudly with the staff. I wonder if he’s hard of hearing because (1) he was talking loudly, (2) he commented to a fellow customer he knew that the worker had not responded to his question when she in fact had, and (3) he didn’t seem to hear my goodby.
Took a constitutional in the form of walking all over the humid neighborhood looking for either (plain) Twinkies or cloud cakes (not knowing the latter have been discontinued) in six supermarkets and finding them in none.
37th Ave. Passed on buying the chocolate peanut‐butter variety from F’town because I specifically wanted the plain variety. R’rigo was there running around and we said goodby to one another as I left without having purchased anything. They were also unavailable from FD.

37th Ave. After not finding them in TF, I “settled” on the chocolate peanut‐butter variety from CT when I had had the opportunity to buy them from F’town. On a whim, I went to RA (20:18) and finally found them there for $1.90 for a packet of two after I had already bought the c.p.b. variety for four dollars for a box of ten. I didn’t mind the inflated drug‐store price, however, until I had brought them home and found I didn’t like them very much, thinking they had more chemical a taste than I remembered from childhood.
