Cute Mannan new year sign (8471–72).

Ran into Σπύρος in the building and then on the train as I headed downtown, and we chatted about how he’d hurt his foot and about some theater‐ and transit‐related stuff.

I was disappointed in myself for arriving at OJL fifteen minutes late for my luncheon date with R‐joy, but he was even later than I. The waiter refused to allow me to substitute a vegetable for potatoes but said I’d get a larger portion of the vegetable with which the meal comes, but that didn’t seem to be the case. Much talk about travel and food.

Tall building under construction near Central Pk. S. (probably actually W. 58th St.) (8473–74). Excursion into Central Park for a bit (8475–79).

Walk down from E. 59th St. to E. 12th St. Erroneous multilingual sign in the 30s (8480–81). Among other things, discussed old travel and work videos I’ve taken and he seemed eager that I digitize and share them, particularly the Cheng’s videos.

We lost one another in the Strand (8482–85), but after he left, I found a large 480‐page art book* in excellent condition full of (mostly public‐domain) pictures for only a dollar. Many queer customers there.

Went to AB, E. 14th St., for cash and the a.t.m. was beeping as I approached it because the prior user had left her card in the slot. I asked the user next to me if it made sense to slip her card under the locked interior door and he thought it reasonable enough, so that’s what I did.
