Photos: Failed attempt to photograph attractive man on 72nd Street between 35th and 37th avenues. (The man in the photo is not the one.) Truck worker in front of the Salem.

The Latin dance music behind the deli counter was blending with the Christmas music (coincidentally in Latin) in the main part of the supermarket, so it sounded like I was hearing a cha‐cha version of “Gloria in excelsis Deo.”

A woman nuzzled her cart up to the deli counter and began to order when the next available worker asked who was next. I nicely but firmly (and rhetorically) asked if I had not been there before her, and she repeatedly apologized with such a look of sadness and remorse on her face (and there were also so many deli workers behind the counter) that I couldn’t be annoyed. She wished me happy holidays.

Attractive man in the produce section approached me while I was on line at the deli counter and asked about my smoked salmon, referring to it with the Yiddish word לאַקס. His saying he hadn’t seen it there before suggests he lives nearby. Friendly man. {…}

Because my hands were full, I waved to Corey with my eyes. {…}

Thanks to all who sent me private messages or tagged me in posts with birthday wishes. It was hard to keep up with all of them, especially as it was a bit of a busy weekend, but the long stream of them was quite satisfying. 😊
