Shoulda stood in bed. Cold, windy, overcast eating day.
Window work on 72nd St. (9139–43, 9159). 9142 was taken in error but came out quite nice.
An older man I passed on 37th Ave. briefly stopped to do a quick dance move with his arms out, presumably for the benefit of a nearby friend but I saw none.
I could not find a cashbox, a small plastic t‐square, a t‐handle beehive plunger or an unruled notepad of any desired size at any of the three discount shops I visited (though I did buy zippering mattress protectors in DM where I forgot to check in). Chatted briefly with floor‐mate R’ta in CSVM, mostly about the scarcity of items I wanted.
79th St. (9144–53). Roadwork at Roosevelt Ave. I thought I’d recorded a nice long video of the workers’ movements (between 9152 and 9153) but it turned out I hadn’t. After my emerging from the third store into the light rain, the wind destroyed the three‐dollar umbrella I’d bought at নকশী on my first time using it.
37th Ave. (9154–58). Springtime messages on the L’wood chalkboard (9154–55). Sexy gay man whose face I couldn’t capture (9156–57). DR worker dragging out big bags of cans and bottles (9158). Niqab women (9160). Bought meat, guacamole and cheese at FD (18:53) while waiting for my toyuq‐şiş order at my favorite حلال truck. Attempted to photograph man holding box (9161–63).
Subway ride (6246–51). New E. 86th St. sta. (6251).
GA DA at Richie’s apartment (9164–80). Hasty cakes (9164–65). Begging dog (9169–70, 9172). Group photos by Mike W. (9176–79).
“I see virtually no diversity of thought or tolerance of other opinions on the left today, just constant smearing and slandering of all intellectual opponents. … These used to be just political differences, and now they are somehow a referendum on what type of person you are and whether you can be in someone’s life at all. … I get e‐mails about marriages breaking up, lifelong friends no longer talking to each other and people afraid to say what they think politically because of repercussions it’ll have at work.” —Dave Rubin

Commentary
– Exactly the kind of dichotomizing of which the video is critical: Us versus them. All people’s positions conform to either the good side or the evil side, and if I disagree with someone on any issue, then he must be on the evil, hateful side.
