Went out to the CVS a.t.m. just to get money for the super’s Christmas boner but then decided to walk around because it’s seventy‐two degrees in late December.
South Asian–looking man at 35th Avenue and 72nd Street greeted me in Arabic (السلام عليكم) so I returned the greeting in Hebrew (ועליכם שלום). He also wished me happy holidays and told me I look good. (It seems I am good‐looking.)
The self‐checkout machines are gone from CVS!
Encountered Bill M. on 37th Avenue between 73rd and 74th streets, and we briefly discussed our Yuletide plans. {…}

I stopped into Foodtown to learn that the butter sale continues and that they’ll be open until midnight tonight as usual. Nearly identical experience in Food Dynasty but without the butter and they’ll be open until one o’clock as usual (but will probably close at twenty minutes to one instead, if I know them). I was in a good mood, and it showed in my smile and my step.

Well, the Santa‐hat worker lied to me. I stopped by Foodtown at 20:30 for the butter and they were already closed! At least I got sauerkraut and peanuts, as well as some pictures of men, including the customer in the Christmas sweater, at FD.

Commentary
(On a friend’s text post) – I like the party atmosphere at night during Ramazan, and then ʻId is like Easter. Some years I even dress up for it.
