Theodore Barratt
Article by Alan Trout
Born in 1879, Theodore Frederick Barratt, was invariably shown as ‘F. Barratt’ in results, so presumably known by his second forename. He rode 15 winners under National Hunt rules between 1901 and 1907, achieving a best annual score of five in 1904.
His first win came when the three-year-old Cliftonville II made a winning debut over jumps the Wye Selling Hurdle at that East Kent venue on November 30, 1901. Despite being bought in for 90 guineas after the race, Cliftonville II never ran under National Hunt rules again.
His last success was on Miss Foston in the Farlington Handicap Hurdle at Portsmouth Park on November 22, 1907.
