Brian Armour was born in Bedford on September 13, 1943, and between January 1959 and August 1962 served his apprenticeship with Charles Pratt at Uplands, Lambourn.
At that time, Brian rode at 6 st. 7 lb. This eventually rose to 8 st 10 lb.
Brian first appeared on a race card on February 19, 1968, riding Timely Prince at Doncaster.
He rode his first winner, Faido, at Stratford on May 31, 1969. Earlier that year, on February 13, he married Denise Smith. She gave him a daughter, Tracy.Â
He enjoyed another good win on Faido, at Uttoxeter on December 11, 1969.
Brian's final appearance in the saddle came on June 4, 1971, when he rode Sylvan Prince at Stratford.
Brian, who lived with his family at Brookby Grange, Leicester, enjoyed swimming, dancing and reading when not in the saddle.
