Ben Bromley
Conditional jockey Ben Bromley made his racecourse debut at Lingfield on 22 June, riding Al Farras. It was the first of the 346 mounts he would take during his short career as a jockey.
He had to wait for a couple of years before riding his first winner, Our Rockstar, at Ludlow on May 24 2021. His 43rd & final winner, Girl of Gold, came at Fakenham on December 21 2025.
His final ride, on which he finished second, was Canasta Breeze at Wetherby on December 27, 2025.
The highest-rated horse he rode during that time was Beau Balko (Timeform rating 110).
Based in Somerset with Paul Nichols, Ben enjoyed his finest moment when Park Annonciade landed a valuable handicap hurdle at Haydock in 2023 for trainer Stuart Crawford.
He suffered his most embarrassing moment when easing up on Call Me Lord after being first the post at Sandown, only to quickly realise he'd made an expensive error. There are two winning lines at Sandown, one for the hurdles track and one for the chase track, and by time Ben had realised his schoolboy error, it was already too late. Instead, it was the 18-1 outshot who was in front by a nose at the correct finishing point, leaving the runner-up red-faced.
"I rode to the wrong winning line, it's a stupid mistake and won't happen again," he conceded afterwards. To compound matters, the 20-year-old was handed a 32-day ban, meaning he wouldn't return to action until next year.
He was banned for a harsh 28 days by stewards for his mishap with the winning line, and also handed an additional four days for overuse of the whip.
This was not the first time the winning posts had been misjudged, rather begging the question 'Why are there two winning posts at Sandown?'
