Edward Agar

1910 - 1967

Edward John Sidney Christian Wellbore Ellis Agar, the 5th Earl of Normanton, was one of the few peers to have ridden in the Grand National.

Born in Ringwood, Hampshire on March 29, 1910, he was educated at Eton & Trinity College, Cambridge, where he was Master of the Cambridge University Draghounds.

He was a member of the National Hunt Committee and was 56 when he died on Saturday, January 28, 1967 at Christchurch, Hampshire.
