Peter Leslie Brightwell was born on 4 April, 1934, and lived at 1792 Melton Road, Rearsby, Leicester.
He served his apprenticeship with Stanley Wootton between 1945 - 1954.
Peter first appeared on a racecard in 1950 when, on April 20, he partnered Fair Shadow in the Warren Welter Handicap Plate at Epsom.
He rode two winners in the 1954-55 season, Golden Surprise at Fontwell on November 3 and Simon de Montfort at Wincanton on December 27.
Peter rode a total of seven winners during his career. The other five, in chronological order, were:
