William George (Bill) Cox was a freelance National Hunt jockey whose career spanned the whole of the 1960s, during which he rode a total of five winners. The first of those was achieved on Milan, trained by Syd Warren, in a hurdle race at Uttoxeter on Whit Monday, May 22, 1961.
It was four years before he rode his second winner, novice hurdler Partial at Huntingdon in May 1965. They followed up by winning a handicap at Taunton later that month.
Taunton was also the scene of Bill's next winner, novice chaser Jamestown in September 1966. His final victory came on Utsjoki in a novice riders’ handicap hurdle at Fontwell on April 20, 1967. He relinquished his licence at the end of the 1968/69 season.
