Ian Cox

Ian John Cox, from Tadworth, Surrey, was born on July 10, 1956. He served a three-year apprenticeship with Tommy Carter and a further two with John Sutcliffe.

His first winner was Great Birnham, Kempton, 25 February 1977.

Retained by Arthur Pitt, he enjoyed his best season in 1979-80 when he rode eleven winners.

The best horse he won on was Freight Forwarder.

On June 12, 1980, he married Lisa Kinmond.
