Born on July 27, 1935, Patrick - from Ballylough Bridge, Dublin - served his apprenticeship with Dan Kirwan and Matt McMillan, and rode his first winner, Cool Chance, at Thurles in 1954.
He later went on to win the Irish Cambridgeshire and the Champion Plate.
