Although Patrick (Pat) Curran held a jump jockey’s licence from the 1950/51 season, it was not until November 7, 1955 that he had his only winner in England, when 8-1 chance Imperial Lady, owned and trained by Norfolk permit holder Arthur Ketteringham and making her racecourse bow, won the Tenbury Three-Year-Old Selling Hurdle at Worcester, beating Trevi, the mount of Alan Oughton, by four lengths. It was Pat’s sole success from just eleven rides that season and he never rode another winner.

The filly did not win another race for three years, and Pat Curran did not renew his licence after the 1956/57 season.
