Sir John Barlow

Sir John Kemp Barlow was born at Bradwall Hall, Sandbach, Cheshire on April 22, 1934.

He was the son of Sir John Debman Barlow (1908 - 1986).

John graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1956, with a B.A. He held the office of High Sheriff of Cheshire in 1979.

He was Joint Master of Foxhounds, Cheshire, in 1987.

A keen horseman, he was, in his younger days, a good amateur rider winning, in record time, a 3-mile chase at Woore Hunt.

The best horse he rode was undoubtedly Happy Morn ll.

His best season came in 1957 when he rode six winners, including one on Happy Morn ll (Bangor-on-Dee, April 5).

Sir John Barlow died on December 30 2022, aged 88.
