Donald Albert Coomer, from Catel, Guernsey, was born on 25 June, 1954, and served a three apprenticeship with Henry Cecil.
His first winner was Gone For A Burton at Newton Abbot on October 15, 1974.
He rode four winners in the 1978-79 season which turned out to be his best.
On September 15, 1979, he married Janet Roe.
