Tommy Alridge
1855 - 1920
Tommy Aldridge was born in February 1855 in Staines, Middlesex and, while he is shown to have trained briefly at The Durdans living at Park Cottages, Epsom, he was primarily a jockey.
On Monday, June 21 1920, whilst riding Mr A. Wildey's Esplanade at exercise at Epsom, Tommy was thrown, suffering fatal injuries.
Tommy is buried in Epsom Cemetery.
Tommy suffered a personal tragedy when his son, Private William Aldridge, died on May 4, 1917, aboard the ship 'Transylvania' which was torpedoed on route to Salonika.
