William Busby

Article by Alan Trout

William Daniel Busby rode just one winner under National Hunt rules, when scoring by 10 lengths on Bennett’s Hill in the Whimple Selling Handicap Chase at Devon & Exeter (now known simply as Exeter) on September 25, 1947.

The most notable aspect of this success was that Bennett’s Hill was trained by Captain Ryan Price, then at the start of his illustrious career.

Bennett’s Hill never won another race, nor did his jockey, who did not renew his licence the following season.
