George Chaloner, son of Tom, was born in Middleham on November 9, 1869, and was successful as both a jockey and a trainer.
He had his first ride on Handkerchief at Newmarket in October 1883, and rode his first winner on Jacob at Hampton on 16 June 1886. George retired from training in 1910 and became a farmer in Bedford.
It was here that he died on December 18, 1935, aged 66. He left £3,450
His uncle was Tom Chaloner's younger brother, William, who also died in 1935.
George, who was twice placed in the Derby, had the following big race wins:
