Roy Beeson

Roy Beeson

Although Roy Beeson held a licence under National Hunt rules for at least four seasons he managed just one win.

His red-letter day came at Haydock Park on March 8, 1957, when Pheberion, owned and trained by Rhyl-based permit holder Arthur Tinker, won the Carpenter Four-Year-Old Hurdle by three lengths.

It was Pheberion’s first race under NH rules. He finished fourth on his two subsequent outings that season, with Roy aboard for both of them. They comprised three of only six rides he had during the whole of the 1956/57 campaign.

Roy continued to hold a licence until the 1958/59 season but could not add to his solitary success.
