George Britton

George Britton was the jockey on board Eurydice which won the 1858 Cambridgeshire.

He also rode King At Arms to victory in the 1859 Royal Hunt Cup.

George was born in London in 1842 and served his time with James Dover at Hednesford.

His younger brother William, born in 1847, was also a jockey.

George Britton died at Wantage of consumption in May 1863. He was buried in the churchyard of East Ilsley, next to trainer James Dover, to whom he was formerly employed.
